Data Availability
Editors of the Collection is committed to supporting open scientific exchange and enabling the authors to comply with best practices for sharing and archiving research data. Editors encourage all authors of articles published in the Collection to share their research data, including, but not limited to, protocols, analytic methods, raw data, processed data, code, software, algorithms, and study materials. The data should be FAIR—findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable—so that other researchers can locate and use the data. Where ethical, legal, or privacy issues are present, data should not be shared. The authors should clarify the availability status of the data upon submission and make any limitations or exceptions clear in the article’s Data Availability Statement. In situations where access is restricted to protect confidential or proprietary information, authors will be requested to clearly explain the restrictions on the dataset and make the data available upon request, with permission, for the purposes of peer review.
All authors are encouraged to submit a Data Availability Statement with their article, in which they should indicate Data availability status. They should indicate where and how their research data can be accessed, or indicate that the data is contained within the article, i.e. the original contributions presented in this study are included in the article or supplementary material.
Publications in Open Internet Access
The combination of scientists and scholars willingness to publish the fruits of their research in scholarly journals without payment with Internet makes possible world-wide electronic distribution of the peer-reviewed journal literature and completely free and unrestricted access to it by all scientists, scholars, teachers, students, and other curious minds.
By "open access" to this literature, it is meant its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.
